Jumbo stripers have arrived at mouth of Great Wicomico river. Fished with Robin today and caught 251 pounds of rockfish by 10 AM. Expect fish to be in area for next two to three weeks.

October 29, 2004 Fished the reef again with best day so far! Using live bait caught fish to 32 inches! Limit well before noon!

October 26, 2004
Fished the reef with moderate success and went to the structure for some rockfish jigging. It really paid off with limit of rockfish in the 25 to 29" class!!

October fished the reef with great success. Had limit in no time.

October 24, 2004
Paul Bielema and crew from up Blacksburg way showed real stamina as they toughed it out in shower after shower Sunday at the "Reef". Young Cris started out with a bang but "mud" came on strong and everybody got into the act  near the end. Hefty stripers went to 25 inches with a few fat blues thrown in.

October 9, 2004
Elwood & Becky came on up from Greensboro to put a spankin' on the blues & rockfish at the Northern Neck reef on Saturday. After a rather slow ride out due to the low visibility and after smacking over 25 blues, Elwood & Becky hammered 8 stripers and headed back to Reedville with their limit 'board the BOB-A-LONG .They plan to return in early July to SPANK, SPANK, SPANK the flounder

October 8, 2004
Betty Richardson's crew of Henretta, Fred and Bob  really whacked 'em at the reef today. Smacking their limit of stripers up to 25" and 25 fat bluefish. The day was just a perfect Northern Neck Fall day and the fish were very cooperative. Henretta was a first time boater and angler and did GREAT! Fred opened things up early whacking several blues and stripers before Betty got into the act with one blue after the other and then a few fat rockfish. Bob came on very strong at the end smacking the biggest fish - over 25 inches.

August 18, 2004

Today was one of those fishing days you dream of - calm seas, wonderful companions and willing fish. We journey across the widest part of the bay to Cranny Hack and enjoyed a fine day of flounder fishing. Although we only returned with 3 nice "keepers" and a few croaker and bluefish we had a great day hooking up with 26 flatties. Thin crew is looking forward to a return trip when the fall migration gets going.

August 17, 2004
Great half day trip with "fun" people from Roanoke croaker fishing at the cut channel.

August 10, 2004
Dick Krempesky, Dick Bayus, John & RJ demonstrated their flounder fishing prowess as they "hammered" 30 flounder and boxed 3 beauties at the "cell" area and south.

August 8, 2004
Fished the "cell" area and buoy 40, hard today. Mike Broyles, BD, Josh & Matt snatched 15 flounder and "boxed" 4 and one bluefish. This Richmond crew  really hung in there.

July 31, 2004
Troy Bennett and crew fished hard Saturday 'board the Bob-A-Long and in spite of the choppy seas managed to hook on to 19 flounder. They brought home 4 nice keepers up to 25+inches. "A great group of dedicated fishermen!"

July 17, 2004
Hank Brooks from VIMS and scrappy crew whacked 29 flatties just east of buoy 40. These experienced anglers had no trouble hooking their share once Captain Bob put them on the fish

July 10, 2004

Although it started out with a rough ride over to the "cell" area Steve Flippo and crew had a great morning "spanking" 30 flounder and several "mother-in-law" fish and coming back on calm seas with 11 flounder between 17" and 25". The Bob-A-Long and the Con Man carried these tough fishing anglers from Bowie, Maryland from Norview Marina across the bay. Captain Rick Lockhart"s anglers although not capturing quite as many "flatties" as the more "mature" Bob-A-Long anglers, took "big fish" honors with a 25+" doormat.

June 28, 2004
On Monday the Bob-A-Long carried the Barboni party to the "cell" and in spite of to all day rain caught a couple of fat spade fish and several hefty flounders.

June 27, 2004
On 6/27 Bob-A Long Charters went on a "your boat" charter with the Ray Matson party. What a delightful group!   We went to the cell and captured our fill of flounder up to 24" .
Not unexpectedly the ladies outdid the men and still managed to fix a wonderful lunch ( which yours truly really loved).
On the way back we cruised the R-1/R-2 area and quickly picked up several small blues on small spoons trolled behind #1 & #2 planers.

June 25, 2004
Fred Meyer and crew experienced a great day of flounder fishing today fishing the "Cell" with Captain Bob.  The day was cut a little short by reports of severe thunder storms in the area.  Fred's group did manage to capture 11 hefty keeper flounder up to 24" and about as many throw backs.  The star of the day was George's daughter, Shannon.  The group is looking forward to coming back for a repeat performance in October.

March 17, 2004
On my first trip out of the Great Wicomico, we caught one 30" striper on a short afternoon trip. Fish hit white & chartreuse Mojo tandem rig fished 85' back (approx 25 to 30" down.) Lots of gannets working in shallow water too close in to troll effectively. Also would be almost impossible to troll with proliferation of gill nets in that close.
